VMU team participated in multilingualism forum
On November 14, a team from Vytautas Magnus University participated in the multilingualism forum “More than One Foreign Language: Education, Security, Culture – THE FUTURE.” The aim of the forum was to promote foreign language teaching and learning and to strengthen the importance of multilingualism in education policy and society.
IFL lecturers Dr. Gintarė Gelūnaitė-Malinauskienė, Vaida Misevičiūtė, and Rima Sabaliauskienė participated in the discussion “Training and Retaining Foreign Language Teachers: A Systematic Approach.” At the Ideas Fair, lecturer Irma Čižauskaitė-Da Costa presented the language teaching (and learning) system at Vytautas Magnus University.
IFL assistant professor and Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, Literature and Translation Studies, Doc. Dr. Vima Bijeikienė, participated in a discussion moderated by Prof. Dr. Rūta Eidukevičienė “Language and Security Dialogue: How Foreign Language Learning Contributes to Democracy and Community Resilience.”
Multilingualism is one of the strengths of modern society—it broadens cultural horizons, increases mutual understanding, and contributes to social resilience. The forum was organized by the Lithuanian Association of English Teachers, the Lithuanian Association of Spanish Teachers and Lecturers, the Lithuanian Association of French Teachers and Lecturers, and the Lithuanian Association of German Teachers, together with the Vilnius City Municipality.
