International Mother Language Day

International Mother Language Day is celebrated annually on February 21. Its purpose is to draw attention to the diversity of languages and cultures and to promote multilingualism. This day was recognized by the United Nations General Assembly in 2002 and is part of a broader initiative to “promote the protection and preservation of the languages used by all the peoples of the world.”The VDU Institute of Foreign Languages invites you to celebrate International Mother Language Day on Monday, February 23, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., at V. Putvinskio g. 23, room 106. You will be able to participate in the game “My Language – My Homeland,” with prizes for the winners, interesting conversations with international students, and surprises! Let’s celebrate languages, cultures, and our native languages!
