Arabesk Studies in Damascus
Marhaba from the Always-Sunny-City of Damascus. Damascus is one of the best cities to study Arabic. In Arabesk, we offer the following basic services as a basis of all our packages. We offer complete packages of STUDIES and SERVICES and ACCOMMODATION, including from before arrival until departure:
- exchange information about the different institutes and courses and everything in order to easy the students arrival and settlement in Damascus,
- meeting at the airport upon arrival,
- transfer to accommodation
- registration formalities in institute,
- guide-translator for the first days,
- assistance for registration, accommodation, residence permit, getting around,
- Medical first necessary assistance (advising from specialized doctors, consultation and medicaments, emergency assistance 24 hours)
- airport transfer upon departure
- and special care in order to deepen the student in the Arabic culture, traditions and in the Syrian society.

- Accommodation in typical Damascene families (for female students) in order you benefit a maximum from your studies. They are generally small families, father, mother and children (one or two) or females families (landladies living alone, mother and daughter). They live in the center of the city, or close to the transports. You have your own room, access to kitchen and bathroom and other facilities. They are “pedagogic”, they speak Arabic with the student and they know some English in case of necessity. Meals are not included (but we can arrange as a supplement in order students get to know the Syrian cooking)..

1) – Arabesk tuitions: We offer one-to-one tuitions, tailored to the students needs, in terms of studies, books, subjects, timetable … We are very flexible and try to adapt ourselves to the students.
The advantage is that it is private classes, there is only ONE student, the student goes much faster, with undivided attention from the teacher. He can focus much better on you, improve your conversation, reading, writing, correct your mistakes and work on your weak points.
We offer tailored, personal courses with a private teacher (that we offer all inclusive with our package of services and accommodation):

2) – Arabic Center for Foreigners (group classes):
They have 3,5 months courses, all around the year, for beginners, intermediates, advanced. There are 80 hours during the course, 5 days a week, 4 hours per day.

You should come 2-3 days before the beginning of the course in order to perform registration formalities.
We always recommend the student to combine between Institute and private courses. Many students in fact advised us to motivate students to make combinations between group classes and individual classes. Both are useful: the synergy of the group and the focus of private lessons. The teacher can take much better care on you, and do things that you can’t in group: improve your conversation, your reading, your writing, correct your mistakes and work on your weak points. And the student goes much faster. Coming to Damascus in an unique occasion, an investment, so you have to take a maximum of profit.

Accommodation standards are not at western levels, but we try to find the most appropriate and suitable flats for our students. In Arabesk, we do our best to find a suitable family in a nice place, in the center of Damascus, in order students mix with people, society, be considered as a neighbor and not as a tourist.
Professionally, we advise you to avoid Bab Tuma or Bab Sharqui (families or rooms for rent), and this, for different reasons that concern particularly the students and Arabic studies.
- Located in the Old City, there is a touristic influence, which makes that people there try to speak english with the students “Hello! Where do you come from? Welcome Welcome! Please”. The student practise little arabic as he is always considered as a foreigner or a tourist (if he is not considered as a “walking” dollar or Euro money bill !). They try to practice their english or other languages (french, italian, spanish, or any, they are quite good in imitating languages) and they absolutely do not take into consideration that you came from far away, you too, to practise your arabic.
- Located in the Eastern part of the Old City, in the East part of Damascus city, it is far away from University or Mezze. Students loose a lot of time in transports.
For these reasons, we prefer that our students live in other districts, like Midan, Muhajirin or Baramka, where they mix to the population and society, and are considered as one more neighbor, and not a tourist: “Marhaba! Ahlan wa Sahlan! Kaifak al youm? Min ayna anta? Tafaddal !!”
Arabesk offers for girl students only accommodation in Syrian family. This is the best way to learn the Arabic language as you practise all day long, in everyday life use, get to know the Arabic culture, the traditions.
For male students, we have flats to rent or we can assist with small flat search.
From our side, in Arabesk, we offer a complete package of services in order to motivate and help people to come to Damascus, Syria, make things easy to the student. In general, people are afraid to travel to a strange country. It is not obvious to land in a new country, the fact of not speaking the same language, Syrians don’t speak all of them English, a different culture. We are here to welcome, guide, advice you, in order you don’t loose time or do something wrong. It is not easy to find everything quickly (university, registration office, person in charge), private teacher, the accommodation (state agencies, contract), and move by yourself at the beginning. And if they see that you are foreigner, they increase the price. We help to negotiate to have the best price.
