A small community miracle: “Cake Day” joined forces for a noble cause

“It is not true that there are no miracles in this world. There certainly are! And very beautiful ones at that” – these are the words with which I would like to begin my story about this year’s “Cake Day,” which swept through our academic community with incredible warmth and generosity.

This morning was a great example of how a simple initiative can turn into a real celebration of togetherness. And this year’s celebration was especially big and abundant! A large group of colleagues from other departments actively and enthusiastically joined in the campaign, which is becoming a tradition at the Institute of Foreign Languages:

the Marketing and Communications Department,
the Studies Department,
the Student Affairs Department,
the Education Academy,
and the Faculty of Economics and Management.

All those who gathered were greeted not only by a huge selection of delicious homemade cakes, but also, just as importantly, by sincere smiles, a sense of community, good spirits, and warm conversations that brought colleagues from different departments together around the same table.

However, the most important goal of the day was to share kindness. We are happy and proud to announce that, thanks to the joint efforts of all participating departments, an impressive amount of €457.53 was raised!

All the money raised, both in cash and by bank transfer, will go to SOS Children’s Villages (https://sos-vaikukaimai.lt/), an organization that helps children grow up in a safe and loving environment.

A sincere THANK YOU to each and every one of you who baked, treated, tasted, donated, and simply joined us. Thank you for contributing to this little miracle! This day proved once again how united and strong our community can be.
